The 27 Best Country Western Songs of All Time

I was meeting with a well-known friend the other day when I mentioned to him the name “George Strait”.  His blank-faced response was all I needed to know.  He did not know who “The King” is. This was the first image that popped into my mind.

I immediately assured him that I would make a list of my favorite Country songs to get his life back on track.

I should note that I only chose one song per artist.  My original list had multiple songs from the same artist, but I want this list to be a better sampling of the best songs in Country music across a variety of artists. They are also not ranked in any particular order of preference.

So without further adieu, here are my personal, 27 favorite Country Western songs of all time:

  1. I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song) – Brad Paisley
  2. I’m No Stranger to the Rain – Keith Whitley
  3. Killin’ Time – Clint Black
  4. I’m Much Too Young (to feel this ___ old) – Garth Brooks
  5. Neon Moon – Brooks & Dunn
  6. The Heart that You Own – Dwight Yoakam
  7. Straight Tequila Night – John Anderson
  8. She Never Lets It Go To Her Heart – Tim McGraw
  9. Heartaches by the Number – Ray Price
  10. All My Exes Live in Texas – George Strait

  1. What? No Country Boy can survive? No you never call me by my name?!? That’s the best country western song ever even says so in the song! No Haggard? No Cash?!? No Cash? I demand a recount… Wait was there a vote? 🙂

    • Lol, I knew the lack of Cash would cause a stir. As you can see, I’m a product of 90’s country and the fathers of country. I definitey had a hard time leaving David Allan Coe off. 🙂
